Encaustic and acrylic mediums, though incompatible, both offer the ability to layer, create texture, transfer images, collage, or just paint. This workshop is an opportunity to explore the acrylic medium as an alternative to encaustic painting.

Bring your image ideas and resources including sketches, photos or even paintings in progress.  Most tools and supplies are provided. Techniques of texture, brushing, layering, scraping/scribing, and drawing to develop our images are demonstrated, as well as collage and image transfer. This is primarily process and technique oriented. Space limited to five.

Marc Kundmann lives and works in Truro and Provincetown. He is represented by the Addison Art Gallery in Orleans. Kundmann started painting after moving to Cape Cod and has studied and workshopped with fine artists connected to the long tradition of painting and Cape Cod including Robert Henry, a student of Hans Hofmann, and Fine Arts Work Center fellows Jim Peters, Bert Yarborough and Richard Baker. Originally an oil painter, Kundmann transitioned to working with encaustic in 2006. In 2011, he had a two-person show at the Cape Cod Museum of Art.
