Outside: Plein Air Woodcut (and/or) Linocut with Vicky Tomayko

August 2 – August 20 | Mondays + Fridays, 9-11am | 6 Sessions | $380 for members, $400 for non-members

This class meets twice a week for 3 weeks beginning Monday, August 2. On Mondays, we will work outside, drawing and sketching, or carving printable blocks from the bayside landscape and the rich environment of Provincetown and the Provincelands. On Fridays, we will meet via Zoom to see demonstrations, look at wood and linoleum cuts throughout history, and perfect techniques for cutting blocks, printing, and to share work. The course will focus on black and white printing and the development of compelling imagery inspired by place.

Masks will be required in all outdoor and plein air workshops at PAAM, regardless of vaccination status.

Vicky Tomayko is an artist who works with a variety of print methods creating one-of-a-kind works on paper. She studied printmaking in Detroit and with Michael Mazur in Provincetown. She was a fellow at the Fine Arts Work Center in Provincetown and has an MFA in printmaking from Western Michigan University.
In addition teaching at the Provincetown Art Association and Museum, she teaches at Cape Cod Community College and at the Fine Arts Work Center in Provincetown Summer Program. She manages the print studio for the Fine Arts Work Center during their 7 month Residency Program, providing workshops and one-on-one instruction. She was an artist-in-residence at the Cape Cod Lighthouse Charter School in Orleans for ten years. Tomayko was assistant professor of printmaking at Connecticut College. She is represented by the Schoolhouse Gallery in Provincetown and A.I.R. Gallery in Brooklyn NY.
