Outside: Foundational Drawing Skills with Valerie Isaacs

August 2 – August 6 | Monday-Friday, 9-11:30am | 5 Sessions | $300 for members, $325 for non-members

Anybody can draw using these basic skills. Meeting outdoors near PAAM, we will learn (or review) the basic skills of drawing from nature: gesture, contour, positive/negative shapes… seeing in a grid, comparing proportions and angles, simplifying values.  See how these skills roll together to make drawing easier and give convincing three-dimensionality and light to your drawings.  We will work on various subjects outdoors– still life, landscape, architecture.

Valerie Isaacs has been painting outdoors in Provincetown since 2016. She studied Architecture at Penn State, drawing and etching in Spain, and painting at the Fleisher Art Memorial (Philadelphia) and with Douglas Balentine (Charleston, SC). Exhibiting since 1990, she has shown at a flamenco bar in Seville, a village fair in France, and at a monastery.  Her classes in drawing and painting incorporate study of our painting ancestors.
