Philip Yenawine

Philip Yenawine has been engaged in museum education for forty years, ten years of which were spent as Director of Education at The Museum of Modern Art in New York.

He is the founding director of the Aspen Art Museum and has coordinated education programs at various museums, most notably the Metropolitan Museum of Art, NY. Yenawine served as consulting curator at the Institute of Contemporary Art, Boston, and as Visiting Professor of art education at Massachusetts College of Art. He is currently the co-founding director (with cognitive psychologist Abigail Housen) of Visual Understanding in Education, a nonprofit educational research organization that develops and studies programs that train teachers to use art to teach thinking and communication skills.
