Annual Consignment Auction

Held annually in September, The Annual Consignment Auction of early Provincetown art is one of PAAM’s most significant yearly fundraisers, supporting our year-round educational offerings, exhibitions, and other cultural programming. Purchasing a piece of artwork from this auction will make an extraordinary difference in PAAM’s ability to maintain its operations.

Consignors to the auction receive 80% of the “hammer price” for lots sold, and PAAM receives 20% or a minimum of $50. It is in the best interest of PAAM and the consignor to sell high, so every effort is made to ensure the best possible price at auction for every consignment. The auction is advertised digitally and in print through major antique and fine arts publications both locally and nationally, and all lots will be on view at the museum from September 3 through September 25. The 2021 consignment auction will be held online via one of the premier fine art and object auction sites, LiveAuctioneers.com.

THE 2021 PREVIEW EXHIBITION

On view September 3-25

The works on view in the preview exhibition are the 109 lots available in the 2021 auction. This year, the Annual Consignment Auction will be hosted online at PAAM.LiveAuctioneers.com.

BIDDING

All bidding will take place at PAAM.LiveAuctioneers.com. Bidding will open Friday, September 3, and lots will begin closing at 7pm on Saturday, September 25.

  1. Create an account with LiveAuctioneers.com. If you have a tax resale ID, you will submit it to Live Auctioneers. Register early! Most of the bidding will take place in the three weeks leading up to the auction closing.
  2. Request bidder registration in the PAAM Consignment Auction. Once approved, you may begin leaving bids.
  3. Bid! Bidding is open for three weeks during which you can leave single bids on any given lot, or use the auto bidding feature to set your maximum price for a lot, and the site will automatically bid in the given increments for you up to your max.
  4. Lots will begin automatically closing in numeric order at 7PM on Saturday, September 25. You can continue to submit bids while the lots are closing. Submitting bids will reset the timer of that lot closing. Once no further bids are submitted on a lot, it will sell to the highest bidder. This will happen quickly, so be ready!

PAYMENT

All invoices and payments will be generated and processed via Live Auctioneers. Invoices will be automatically sent to winning bidders to complete payment. If you have a tax resale ID, you will submit it to Live Auctioneers when you create an account.

SHIPPING AND PICKUP

Winners may pick up their lots September 26 and 27, 9–11AM, or by appointment after that. Please contact PAAM’s Registrar Seth Abrahamson (seth@paam.org) to make an appointment. Shipping will be at the expense of the winning bidder and coordinated on a case-by-case basis.
