A LADY BUYS by Irma Ruckstuhl
Irma Ruckstuhl has made her home on Cape Cod since the early 1950s. Since retiring from the retail business she has been an active member on the boards of several art and conservation organizations as well as doing the extensive research for this and other projects. She is also the author of Provincetown in Early Photographs reprinted in 2007 by PAAM in recognition of her work.
In A Lady Buys, Ruckstuhl elicits the history of a wealthy, West Bridgewater, Mass. family from their arrival in the New World to the early 20th century, as revealed on the pages of a simple expense journal kept during 1905 – 1907.
