A Flash of Green (1984)
Written and directed by Victor Nunez, based on John D. MacDonald’s novel
With Ed Harris and Blair Brown
2 hr 11 min; USA
A tonic fable for the Trump era: a small-town reporter on the rural Florida coast resists manipulation by corporate polluters and sides with an environmental activist. Victor Nunez (Ulee’s Gold), a quietly brilliant regional Florida filmmaker, once again heralds the extraordinary bravery of ordinary people.
The Provincetown Film Art Series, now in its 13th year, is sponsored by the Provincetown Film Society (PFS) and Provincetown Art Association and Museum (PAAM), and curated and hosted by Howard Karren, arts editor of the Provincetown Banner.
Wednesday screenings are at 7 pm every other week except as noted at the Waters Edge Cinema in Provincetown, 237 Commercial St., 2nd floor of Whaler’s Wharf, and are introduced and followed by a discussion.
Individual tickets are $12, or $8 for PFS or PAAM members. Tickets to the Kickoff Celebration screening are $40.
Season passes, which include admission to the Kickoff Celebration and all 15 screenings through May 15, are $185, or $135 for PFS or PAAM members, a $25 savings.
