Youth Exhibition at Oils by the Sea Gallery
July 26 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm
Provincetown’s Family Week will be here before we know it, and with it comes what has developed into a beloved tradition at Shirl Roccapriore’s Oils by the Sea Gallery: The Annual PAAM Youth Artist Exhibition and Fundraiser! On view July 26-August 4, the exhibition opens with a public reception on Friday, July 26 from 6-8pm, and features four young artists from PAAM’s Art Reach program: Baylie Hartford, Landon Parr, Hannah Richardson, and Molly Shafnacker.
Timed to coincide with Provincetown’s Family Week, this exhibition is part of a multi-year vision to support developing artists and to give back to Provincetown’s arts community. Roccapriore says, “I had the good fortune of having a mentor at a very young age, who gave me opportunities that validated my love and pursuit of art. My intention is to follow the students I choose; this select group will have another opportunity to come back to the gallery and show their latest work.”
Art Reach is one of PAAM’s grant and donor-funded out-of-school programs that provides transportation, instruction and materials to local youth 10 and up free-of-charge. Lynn Stanley, PAAM’s outgoing Curator of Youth Education, developed this exhibition series with Roccapriore. “Shirl and the Oils by the Sea Gallery is providing young artists a wonderful opportunity to deepen their relationship to our town, to be celebrated, and to support PAAM’s efforts to provide accessible creative opportunities for local youth. Shirl’s generosity and the respect she shows young artists exemplifies what’s best about our community,” she writes.
