Online: Looking at the Light: Exhibited and Collected by PAAM

When artists are asked why they choose to create work on Outer Cape Cod, most likely “the light” is the proffered answer. Often that part of the conversation ends, as if all concerned are in common agreement as to what that means. Artist and Instructor Heather Blume offers two talks which will expand on the topic of light in art making on the Outer Cape. Each talk will cover select artworks either currently on exhibit at PAAM or in the permanent collection by identifying some of the salient light influenced approaches found in them. Each talk will be followed by an open dialogue session with participants on how and why light is such an essential part of said artists’ process. We will be looking at work in a variety of media such as digital photography, painting, installation, and sculpture. All are welcome, the more various the participants the more dynamic the class!
