Monoprinting from the Figure
Working from a live model, learn a variety of monoprinting approaches and develop a series of images while interpreting the figure in your own unique way. We will be using plexi plates, oil based inks, and subtractive and additive methods, with brayers, brushes, rags, stencils and a little solvent. Starting in the dark field manner of Degas with black ink and moving towards color and more experimental ways of working, the week will be a chance to explore the figure in a printerly way. Learn how to use an etching press, how to register a print, and how to add to or rework an image. This class would be enjoyable for beginners as well as for the more experienced. No printmaking experience is necessary.
