Merging Encaustic and Fine Art Archival Photos in Provincetown

Encaustic wax can add a compelling surface to photography with texture, subtle or expressive color, and atmosphere. In this workshop, we will craft large format encaustic works using fine art archival photo prints. Discussion includes the basics of making an archival print and the process of building a finished “encaustic photograph” including panel preparation, techniques for mounting prints onto panels, preparing the photo for wax application and techniques for using encaustic to enhance the image.

The goal is for each student to have a completed a 20 x 24” work by the end of the workshop.

No experience in encaustic is necessary. Directions to the artist’s studio are supplied upon registration.
