Figure Drawing for Artists Who Want to Loosen Up
In traditional art school settings, drawing from the figure is a requirement for all students regardless of their chosen medium. The pressure to “get it right” can be overwhelming. This course takes away that expectation by introducing gestural drawing as a tool for discovery. Beginning with a short art history lesson inspired by works from the museum’s collection, the day continues with guided exercises to loosen the hand and look closely at the figure in relationship to space, composition and form.
Each person, no matter what their level of experience, will leave with a deeper understanding of who they are artistically and what interests them. Affirming and insightful critiques build confidence and the ability to continue life drawing as a practice.
