Abstraction as a Personal Language

In this course, you will create abstract imagery from some of your most powerful memories. Anna will guide students in translating their inner self onto the canvas through nonrepresentational forms. Anna blends theory and personal perspectives on abstraction with the formal issues of composition, color, shape organization, and mark making. Students will have opportunities for quick experimentation as well as longer form paintings while developing a personal visual language.  At the end of the week, you will have built a personal catalog of abstract imagery that expresses the parts of yourself for which there are no words.
