Abstract Painting

In this intensive course, abstraction is explored as a philosophy, rather than merely a style. The workshop is a journey of discovery. We start with a review of color theory, as color plays such a central role in the formal language. Students then explore a variety of conceptual approaches to non-representation, experimenting with diverse processes and techniques. Each student-artist devises or refines a uniquely personal abstract language. Selected paintings in the museum’s collection serve as inspiration.
