Art History

Offered to individuals interested in research and the creation of materials to supplement PAAM’s archives and educational initiatives.

This project-based internship may address identified areas in need of scholarship, and/or may be customized to focus on one or more artists in the PAAM collection, genres, movements, or pedagogical approaches. Interns will have the opportunity to conceptualize and propose an exhibition, which will be considered by PAAM’s exhibition committee. Interns will work with the Curator of Education and Archivist/Preparator. Excellent writing skills and the ability to work independently are requirements of this internship.

Valued attributes of qualifying interns include the ability to: pitch in and help during varied circumstances; operate intelligently, responsibly and independently; maintain a sense of humor. Knowledge of PCs and Macs, Microsoft Office, InDesign, Constant Contact, and WordPress helpful. Some physical work is required.

This position is open to college and graduate students with majors in art, art history, arts administration, museum studies, arts education and similar fields. Recent graduates are also welcome to apply. It takes place mid-June through August, 10-40 hours weekly, mostly during office hours, though limited evening and weekend attendance is required.

This is an unpaid position. Compensation includes a one-year membership to PAAM, free participation in workshops (commensurate with hours worked), and recommendation letters.
