PAAM’s commitment to accessible arts learning opportunities for young people dates to the 1920s.

Now, over a century later, PAAM’s Lillian Orlowsky and William Freed Museum School upholds that commitment with an array of award-winning Youth Education Programs. Taught and facilitated by local and visiting professional teaching artists, PAAM Youth Education provides high-quality holistic arts learning opportunities, which cultivate creativity, inspire curiosity, and empower the next generation of engaged, innovative young people.

The Programs

ART REACH

Art Reach is PAAM Education’s premiere award-winning program for youth. Designed to support the growth and development of students overtime, from beginner to advanced learner, peer mentor, and teaching artist, Art Reach is comprised of three integrated programs: Art on the Edge (ages 9-11); Art Reach 101 (ages 12-14); and Art Reach Studio (ages 15-19). Each program runs every Saturday over two 10-week semesters (fall & winter). All Art Reach programming is offered free-of-charge, with transportation and materials provided.

REACHING FORWARD MENTOR PROGRAM

Reaching Forward is a youth employment program for those advanced participants (ages 15-22) interested in developing their skills as peer leaders and teaching artists. Mentors participate in an array of training, and with support from professional teaching artists and PAAM Education Staff, serve as peer leaders working directly with youth in both Art Reach and Summer Programs. Training and professional development take place throughout the program.

LITTLE ARTISTS

Our program for those ages 9 and under, Little Artists offers a creative, engaging space for early learners to dig into the sensory experience of art-making. A wide variety of media and projects are explored and programs are offered both in the summer and throughout the school year.

SUMMER PROGRAM

PAAM Youth Education is pleased to offer summer programming for youth ages 4 – 14. A series of short sessions will explore a wide variety of media, topics and projects including but not limited to painting, drawing, sculpture, printmaking, graphic novels, and fiber arts. Participants may choose to register for a selection of sessions or the entire program; a minimum enrollment of one week is required.

FOR EDUCATORS

The galleries at Provincetown Art Association and Museum provide a rich setting for educators and students of all ages to explore, engage and create. PAAM presents over 30 revolving exhibitions in five galleries each year.
