Experiment and learn about encaustic art making techniques in a working Provincetown studio. Just bring your image ideas and curiosity, as most tools and supplies are provided. You’ll be guided to find your connection to the medium or to further deepen your experience with encaustic. Techniques of brushing, fusing, layering, scraping/scribing, and drawing to develop our images are demonstrated, as well as collage and image transfer. Considerations about studio setup discussed. Space limited to five.

Marc Kundmann lives and works in Truro and Provincetown. He is represented by the Addison Art Gallery in Orleans. Kundmann started painting after moving here and has studied with fine artists connected to the long tradition of painting and Cape Cod including Robert Henry, a student of Hans Hofmann, and Fine Arts Work Center Fellows Jim Peters, Bert Yarborough and Richard Baker. Originally an oil painter, Kundmann transitioned to working exclusively with encaustic in 2006. In 2011, he had a two-person show at the Cape Cod Museum of Art. www.marckundmann.com |
