This workshop focuses on the ability to see color. Using simple still life objects under dramatic light set-ups, you begin with the development of the large masses of light and shadow. Once a solid ground is achieved, you’re encouraged to go back over their first notes, further isolating and refining the smaller planes of color and the colors within colors that create depth and luminosity.
Oils are the preferred medium (water-mixable oils are also good for those sensitive to oil paints). This workshop includes morning access to the studio during non-class time.

Heather Bruce received her BFA at the San Francisco Art Institute. She later studied with noted colorist Henry Hensche for eight summers in Provincetown. Her work has been shown in galleries in California, Florida and Massachusetts. She is currently represented by the Julie Heller Gallery in Provincetown.
