The intent of this class is to examine the characteristics of color in order to enlarge the awareness of its effects, so that a painter can use color consciously for whatever purpose he/she likes. These purposes can range from the purely expressive to the depiction of convincing light conditions.
In the morning session, using cut paper, participants will undertake a series of short projects intended to direct attention to various aspects of color interaction. We will discuss optics as it relates to painting.
In the afternoon session each person will make a painting, keeping the focus on color interactions.
