In this comprehensive workshop, each day will begin with identifying and building drawings out of visual relationships, focusing on the figure and the space the figure occupies; the goal is to make fully integrated, vital drawings. Through the exploration of line, volume, and the interactions of planes, participants will be encouraged to further develop all elements of drawing language.
In the second half of the day, issues raised in the morning drawing sessions will be expanded upon through the use of color as an expressive and structural force in making a painting. Afternoon sessions will begin with quick color studies, progressing towards longer paintings. For intermediate levels; oils or gouache are recommended, as is some experience working with the model.
