A piece of peeling wood, a leather shoe sole, discarded plastic lids, a rusted metal container: unusable? Not if you are in this class. Here’s your chance to loosen up, subscribe to the recycling aesthetic, and take pleasure in the visceral quality of non-traditional, found materials. We will scavenge along the beach, take a trip to Provincetown’s recycling center, and assemble the remains of objects into witty, ironic and surprising objets d’art. We will also consider the history of assemblage from the Dadaists to Rauschenberg and Twombly. Bring a glue-gun, nails, hammer, screws, drill, protective eye-wear and some found materials. |
