Introduction to Figure Drawing with Robert Rindler
August 3, 4, & 5, 1-4:30pm, $250 plus a $20 materials fee

This three-day course is designed for both the absolute beginner and for people who have drawn from the figure before.  We will be exploring the male and female figure through first quick, then longer gesture and contour drawings with an emphasis on not only what the figure looks like, but what it is doing.  We will be more interested in learning the process of recording form than the finished result.
This will be a totally non-intimidating and exhilarating workshop and you can anticipate a lot of personal attention and advice in response to your own skill level.  Expect to leave the class with a deeper understanding of the visual language of interpreting three-dimensional space and form on a two-dimensional surface...while having fun doing it. All materials will be supplied.

Robert Rindler has had a thirty-five year career teaching art and design and has also lead the administrative team at five different institutions. He has served as Chair of the Art Department of the University of Vermont; Dean at Boston Architectural College; Assoc. Provost at Rhode Island School of Design; Dean of the Cooper Union School of Art; and the President of the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design. Throughout his career he has won numerous national awards and grants and exhibited his own art extensively, including an upcoming one-person exhibition at PAAM. He has taught many different courses and workshops, but inspiring an exploration of freehand figure drawing is his favorite. Rindler has owned a home in Wellfleet for 20 years and is now a full-time resident. He currently serves on PAAM’s Museum School Education Committee, and is a member of the Boards of the Truro Center for the Arts at Castle Hill, Wellfleet Preservation Hall and Cape Cod Community College.
