A work of art goes through many stages of development, but in each phase, it is always a work of art. Therein lies the importance of sketches. - Hans Hofmann
As an artist, your most important resource library is the one you must create yourself. In this class, you’ll learn the dynamics of quick sketching, simplified drawing techniques, and sketching shortcuts. We’ll discuss how to unlock your unique code of illusion, manage material overload, and extend the economic potential of your sketching. |

A graduate of Massachusetts College of Art, and a New York-based painter for twenty years, Nathan Olin now lives and teaches on Cape Cod. In 2009, his students created thirty-eight unique eight-by-eight foot paintings in a six-week period, and Mary Ann Klabal of MK Fine Arts presented him with an award for his creative approach to art education. Olin’s teaching has also sparked the interest of Dan Prince, author of Passing in the Outsider Lane, who has interviewed him and observed his unorthodox teaching techniques for inclusion in a new book project. He uses mixed media sketchbooks to fuel his work, which has been shown on Cape Cod at the Provincetown Art Association and Museum, and in galleries in New York, Boston, and Tampa. |
