Exploring Monotype and Monoprint in Truro with Vicky Tomayko
July 20-22, 10-3pm, $300 plus a $55 materials fee, 3 student limit

Work in the comfortable, airy artist’s printmaking studio in the woods of Truro, creating one-of-a-kind, painterly prints on paper. The experimental/accidental nature of monotype is the perfect formula for artistic growth/change. Working with the residual, or ghost image is a quick and natural way to create a series of related works. There will be instruction in the basics of monotype and monoprint for those who need it, and guidance and critiquing for those who are already proficient. Demonstrations will include a painterly approach to subtractive work, transfer, and registration. We can also explore the possibilities for chine coll? (a collage method), drypoint, and the use of stencils. The supportive workshop will offer individualized attention in a low-toxicity methods, using oil based inks with vegetable oil clean up. No previous knowledge or printmaking skills are required to have a good time, explore and expand your skills. The studio includes a Takach etching press with a bed size of 24" x 48". Materials fee covers all tools, materials and 5 sheets of paper. Additional paper can be purchased from instructor.

Directions to the artist’s studio will be supplied upon registration.
