Changing Light: An Advanced Plein Air Painting Workshop in Provincetown with Hilda Neily
Four-day workshop meets: September 7 & 8, 9-Noon; September 9 & 10, 1-4pm, $350, 5 student limit

One of the challenges and joys of plein air painting is the effort to create in a changing and ephemeral environment. This workshop will explore the mutable nature of light over morning and afternoon sessions in the artist’s studio and in other locations in Provincetown. The focus of the class will be on seeing color in natural light in varying atmospheric conditions. On clear days, students will also explore using light direction as a compositional element. Students are expected to have experience painting and mixing colors out-of-doors, and at least 1-2 years of general painting experience.

Hilda Neily is a graduate of The Boston Art Institute. She was also a long-time student of the impressionist master Henry Hensche. Neily has lived and painted in Provincetown since 1969 and her work is widely collected in the US and abroad.

Directions to the artist’s studio will be supplied upon registration.
