The Terra Cotta Figure: A Multi-Weekend Sculpture Workshop in Harwich Port with Heather Blume
September 18-19 and September 25-26, 10-4PM
$400 plus a $45 materials fee, 8 student limit

Terra cotta is a rich and sensual earthen clay that has been used to make three-dimensional forms for centuries. Working from a live model, this two-weekend-long workshop will provide basic instruction in construction of the human form with water-based clay, with and without the use of supporting temporary armatures. Emphasis will be placed on proportion, rudimentary anatomy, and design/composition, utilizing representational and abstract forms.  Initially, participants will be guided to create several bozetti: clay sculpture sketches that will serve as reference material for the final sculpture, to be completed on the last day of the workshop. Participants will have the option to have their work fired by the artist, which can be picked up at a later date.

Directions to the artist’s studio will be supplied upon registration.
