Absolute Beginners: Printmaking 101 with Tia Scalcione, June 24-26, 9:30-12:30, $250, plus $35 materials fee

Investigate the world of printmaking in this introductory workshop. Various techniques will be introduced, including monotype, dry point and collage. One of the elements that makes printmaking fun for the beginner is that one need not possess any drawing or specialized art-making skills. Be ready to jump in and willing to let go!

This class can be taken in conjunction with the Absolute Beginners 4 week course. Materials fee includes Plexiglas, a selection of paper, and printmaking inks.

Tia Scalcione received her BFA from Boston University, School of Fine Arts with a disciplinary focus in painting and education, in 1995. She has worked in a variety of arts education settings, including the East Boston Social Centers where she was a counselor and coordinated after-school art programs for children aged 5-14; for the past 5 years she has taught printmaking, painting and drawing on the Outer Cape. She has shown work at the Provincetown Art Association and Museum, the Cape Cod Museum of Art, and the New Bedford Art Museum.
