The Museum School at PAAM - Summer 2008
Through a painting we can see the whole world. – Hans Hofmann

Figure/Ground: A Drawing Workshop with Anne Flash, July 8-11, 1-4:30pm $275

This drawing course focuses on the human figure within the context of its surroundings. We will work with male and female models, both in the studio and in the landscapes of Provincetown. Composition, tension, and meaning will be central themes of the class. A variety of media will be incorporated into our study: charcoal, pen and ink, brush and ink washes, as well as collage and alternative surfaces such as wood, fabric, and found objects. No previous drawing experience is necessary, but all levels of experience are welcome.

Anne Flash has been drawing and painting for 30 years, the last 7 of which have been on Cape Cod. Her BFA is from MassArt and her MFA is from Hunter College in New York. She has been the recipient of three residencies at Yaddo and The Millay Colony for the Arts. She has shown her work in New York, Boston, Connecticut, and Provincetown and her work is in private and corporate collections throughout New England. She believes, as an artist and as a teacher, that drawing exists at the core of all art, and is therefore an essential practice.
