Working Three-Dimensionally: A Sculpture Workshop in Truro with Bob Bailey July 21-24, 9-12:30pm $300 with $25 Materials Fee

This class will introduce participants to working with plaster, as well as some woodworking skills. Unique mold-making and construction will be part of the creative experience, with the aim of realizing a sculptural form by week’s end. The workshop is designed for both beginners and those experienced in working three-dimensionally; participants will have the opportunity to address individual concerns and questions in the artist’s private studio in Truro.

Plaster and wood will be included in the $25 materials fee. Bring a sketchbook. Directions to the studio will be supplied upon registration.

Bob Bailey creates abstracted iconographic images using extensive woodworking techniques and layered acrylic paint. His paintings appear as three dimensional shaped cutouts and are often shown in improvised installations. Bailey studied furniture design with Wendell Castle and received his MFA in Sculpture from Virginia Commonwealth University. He has also studied at The Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture and was a two time fellow at the Fine Arts Work Center in Provincetown. Bailey is a founding member of artSTRAND, a Provincetown experimental artist project and gallery space. Bailey has shown locally for the past 18 years, and is currently represented at artSTRAND.
