Fritz Bultman, Peter Busa & Myron Stout: Particular Evolutions, A Lecture with Tracey Anderson, August 18, 10-12:15pm, $125
|

Myron Stout |
This lecture will provide historical and visual information on the diverse and original work of three well-known artists who made Provincetown their home. Peter Busa, Fritz Bultman and Myron Stout all studied intermittently in Provincetown and New York with the abstract expressionist Hans Hofmann; all became valued teachers and astute commentators on the art of their time, in combination with their individual artistic success. In the process of looking at each man’s unique work and history, this lecture will also focus on the critical dialogue that exists between artists. Bultman, Busa and Stout were painters for whom self-reflection was an integral part of their creative process; writing was used to define and clarify their aesthetic goals and included recording the ideologies and art movements of the day, as well as the critical observation of artist peers. Our discussion will address the spirited and essential nature of this dialogue.
