Art
can be a tool for self-exploration and self-discovery.
When we focus on the spontaneous process of creating
art, rather than on its products, we can tap our
unconscious wisdom - a deep source of inner knowing
that naturally expresses itself through imagery,
making the invisible visible.
This
course uses techniques for accessing spontaneous
imagery in order to explore fundamental life domains:
our unique sense of self, our valued relationships
with others, our optimal living and working environments,
and our personal sources of meaning and values.
It is intended for anyone- beginners as well as
those comfortable with art - who wants to cultivate
their intuition, uncover personal symbols, and
explore their meanings in a nonjudgmental atmosphere.
Each
day begins with a brief warm-up exercise, such
as relaxation and guided imagery, followed by
an art activity designed to address a basic life
domain, and concludes with a guided sharing of
imagery. Participants will receive a manual prepared
by the author to help them build these skills
into their lives, including suggestions for peer-led
art groups and mental health professionals who
want to use art with their clients.
