Have
the direct experience of adventuring on Cape Cod and
tell the story through a photographic journal. This
will be a class for people drawn to both journalism
and fine art photography.
Photographer
Jennifer Moller will mentor you in expressing
your experience from creating imagery to the final stage
of printing a series of images. Students will work with
either digital files or conventional film. Class time
will be spent in the classroom, in town, and in nature.
We will be exploring both the Outer Cape and the busy
cultural/commercial world of Provincetown, as we focus
on aesthetic and theoretical approaches to telling a
story through imagery.
The
workshop requires active learners and will use a range
of approaches: from demonstrations of camera techniques
and slide lectures to assignments and discussions. Be
prepared to do some reading in cultural theory. The
goals of the class involve empowering each student to
develop their own individual project, culminating in
a presentation of their work at the end of the week.
We will achieve this through team assignments, lessons
and a lot of shooting.
Students should wear comfortable clothes and be prepared
for the typical variety of weather conditions that New
England summers offer. Much of the class will take place
outside and we could be working at night as well as
in the day.
