Drypoint
printing is an intaglio process that, unlike acid
etching, doesnt require caustic chemicals.
This course will allow students to express their
drawings as prints through the medium of drypoint.
It will be appropriate for those with printmaking
experience, and it will be a good introduction to
printmaking for those who havent made prints
before.
In
class we will be treating and inking plates, preparing
paper, and running them through the press. Those
students who wish to add color to their prints can
learn the process of chine collé, wherein
colored paper is adhered to the print as is goes
through the press. Students are encouraged to bring
drawings, either realistic or abstract, on paper
or in mind, with them to class.
