Nexus Youth Arts at PAAM
The Provincetown Art Association and Museum’s commitment to accessible arts learning opportunities for young people dates to the 1920s. Today PAAM’s youth programs include partnerships with local schools and organizations; the award-winning Student and Educator Curating Program; the Art Reach afternoon program; the Art on the Edge Saturday program; and the Reaching Forward Student Mentor Program.
Additional opportunities for youth include the Robyn Watson Scholarship for local high school students; Art Adventures, PAAM’s summer workshops for children 6-12 years; PAAM’s Youth Memberships for 12-18 year-olds; internship opportunities; and service on PAAM’s Youth Education Committee.
PAAM provides engaging and welcoming learning environments with skilled teaching artists and educators, to spark and nurture creativity. For information on PAAM’s Youth Programs, please contact Lynn Stanley, Curator of Education at PAAM, 508 487 1750, email@example.com.
PAAM supports collaborations and seeks out support from a broad range of sources. 2011-2012 funders include the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency, the National Endowment for the Arts, which believes that a great nation deserves great art, the Aeroflex Foundation, Bank of America, an anonymous donor, the Bilezikian Family Foundation, Ted and Peter Petas, The King Family, Shirl Roccapriore, and the Burzycki Family in memory of Richard and Helen DiGregorio.
Partnerships with schools, non-profit organizations, and businesses are vital to the success of PAAM’s NEXUS Youth Arts Programs. This year PAAM is providing transportation to and from the Art Reach and Art on the Edge programs through partnerships with the Provincetown and Nauset School Systems, and Nauset Youth Alliance.
PAAM is also partnering with Provincetown Community Television to develop a series of video projects covering themes and topics determined by NEXUS Youth Arts participants. Completed projects will be broadcast on PTV’s channel 17 and on the PTV website.
